Prominent NYC Urologist Faces Allegations of Patient Abuse
Dr. Darius Paduch, a former urologist associated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical Center, is facing severe allegations of abuse from 58 former patients. The accusations, described as "sadistic" and "perverted," have led to a lawsuit against the doctor and the associated medical institutions.
The lawsuit, filed recently, claims that between 2003 and 2022, the victims, all male, were subjected to various forms of abuse, including rape, unnecessary surgeries without anesthesia, and being deliberately given addictive opioids. The suit alleges that Dr. Paduch used his position to exploit his patients sexually, with some of the victims being minors.
Attorney Anthony T. DiPietro, representing the victims, told Fox News Digital that he believes there are many more victims who may not yet realize they were subjected to sexual exploitation and abuse. The lawsuit further alleges that the medical institutions were aware of Dr. Paduch's actions but failed to report them, allowing him to continue practicing medicine for years after the initial discovery of his alleged misconduct.
The lawsuit paints a disturbing picture, suggesting Dr. Paduch manipulated patients by overprescribing opioids, making them dependent on him. It also claims he would ask inappropriate questions about their personal lives and engage in unwarranted physical examinations.
The institutions named in the lawsuit, including New York-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center, and others, are accused of covering up Dr. Paduch's actions and failing to protect their patients. The lawsuit even alleges that Weill Cornell Medical Center's ethics board received multiple complaints but attempted to silence the victims.
In a statement, Weill Cornell Medical Center expressed its commitment to patient care and safety, stating that they are deeply disturbed by the allegations and are fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Michael Baldassare, Dr. Paduch's attorney, has defended his client, highlighting his long-standing reputation in the medical community and his service in the Army Reserve Medical Corps. Dr. Paduch has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is no longer affiliated with the mentioned hospitals.
