Missouri Man Arrested for Wife's Murder, Allegedly Texted Its Satisfaction
John Wonder, a 31-year-old Missouri resident, has been taken into custody following the discovery of his wife's lifeless body, which had his surname written in blood on her leg. Disturbingly, he allegedly texted about the act, describing it as "more satisfying than you can imagine."
The victim, 29-year-old Ashli Ehrhardt, was reportedly found in their home on September 22nd, having been strangled and stabbed. The couple, who were in the midst of a divorce, had two children together. Ehrhardt had plans to move out of their shared residence in the coming days.
Charging documents revealed a chilling text Wonder allegedly sent to his sister shortly after the murder, stating, “Hey kiddo. Sorry about the mess. It’s way easier and much more satisfying than you can imagine. See you around.”
The alarm was raised when neither Wonder nor Ehrhardt showed up for work. Their employer, concerned for their well-being, contacted Ehrhardt's mother, leading her and her husband to the couple's residence. There, they were met by police and Wonder's mother.
Ehrhardt's mother told officers that earlier that day, Wonder had left their two children, aged 2 and 4, on her front porch, a departure from his usual routine of bringing them inside.
Upon entering the house, Ehrhardt's parents discovered their daughter's body in the laundry room. She was partially undressed, with a belt around her neck, multiple stab wounds, and the word "Wonder" written in blood on her leg. A large butcher knife was found beside her.
Further investigation revealed a text conversation between Wonder and his sister, where he allegedly detailed the ease and satisfaction of the murder. Another acquaintance of Wonder's shared a message indicating that he was heading to Fargo, expressing no remorse for his actions and contemplating his own end.
The couple's brief marriage began in October 2019. After seeking marriage counseling, they decided to part ways. Ehrhardt had intended to leave the shared residence on October 1st, as confirmed by Wonder's mother.
Nebraska state police apprehended Wonder while he was traveling westbound. He faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal conduct. Currently held on a $1 million bond, court records indicate he has not yet secured legal representation.
