At least 40 dead, dozens injured after attackers open fire inside busy Moscow-area concert venue

In a devastating attack that has shocked Russia, at least 40 people have been confirmed dead with dozens more injured after armed assailants opened fire inside the Crocus City Hall concert venue located in the Moscow region. According to reports from Russian state media agencies TASS and RIA Novosti, three unidentified individuals dressed in camouflage forcefully entered the concert hall just before a scheduled performance by the music group Picnic. Witnesses and official reports indicate that the attackers used automatic weapons to spray bullets into the crowd and also deployed at least one grenade or incendiary device, causing a fire to erupt within the venue.

The chaos and panic that ensued were captured in video footage showing terrified concertgoers huddling together, screaming, and seeking cover behind seats as gunshots echoed through the hall. A large plume of black smoke was seen billowing from the building, which appeared to be engulfed in flames.
